Devon Marie Lyle I’m going to ask that you keep comments like these to yourself and not post them on public forums like facebook. Search teams have been working tirelessly, trekking through the river valley and surrounding areas for hours and hours, covering dozens of kilometres, in search of Kathleen or any sign of her. The shoreline has been checked, drones have been utilized by teams, this has been covered. NOW, on top of all of that, police and investigators have been doing their job to investigate this case in entirety. They have gone through extensive training to be able to do this job incredibly and be trusted with it. While the public may think that they are “detectives” they are not. The public has not received the same training as the professionals. The public does not have access to the same information and resources as the investigators. We are not the professionals, we are simply civilians. The police are doing their job whether you hear about it or not. Out of respect for Kathleen and her family, along with the security and integrity of the case, details of this case are being kept private. I ask that you keep comments like these to yourself, because they hurt the family, and they turn people against the police who are in fact doing their job thoroughly. We need to respect that.

Minor detail, but car still running or not? One report said it was and this one doesn’t state that. What other discrepancies are there in the reporting?

It’s unlikely she would leave her car running doors unlocked and disappear completely with no traces.
It’s weird how a member of the family made a video asking her to come home that includes saying “nobody’s mad at you”…

It wasn’t even a video and it’s extremely common to say those types of things when you have No idea why someone has taken off….she may be scared and thinking, “wow, everyone will be so upset if I just show back up”….

This is directed towards everyone involved in this comment: original poster of the comment, along with everyone replying. Everyone has their ideas and think they “know” what happened. I can assure you, from the moment the family knew Kathleen was missing, they have gone through every single possible situation, theory, and idea in their head hundreds of times, 24 hours a day. While this may have had good intentions behind it, comments like this with speculations, theories, and ideas, do nothing more than create gossip and rumours, while hurting the family deeply. Every time the family reads comments like this one, it hurts them. They have enough on their plate, so please keep comments like these to yourself. The people of facebook are NOT police, detectives, or investigators, nor are they any specialized service that may be involved in the case. We need to leave the investigative work to the investigators because unlike the public, they have in depth training and skills that allow them to work and be trusted in their profession. We as the public, do not have any specialized investigative training for this case that gives us any right to speculate, especially not on a public forum such as facebook where the family reads these comments and is hurt by them. Please keep these comments to yourself. Let’s exchange these for words of hope, encouragement, and positivity, because that is what we have to hold onto.

Sorry? I did not post a theory I was just stating another person was missing during the same time for a similar thing. Which I reached out to the page and they said they will be making a post. And I did leave some words of encouragement. So thanks for your reply but I am not sitting here speculating anything. I was sharing about another situation which sounded similar but has not been posted about.

I’ve been following it since the beginning. I was just trying to share to the page as they had not posted about another guy missing. That is all. Karmon Freadrich she been hired by the family ? The family has money to hire someone to watch comments on social media? Because that’s what hired means. Maybe with all the go fund me money they could put up a reward instead of living off it. Kathleen is not a money grab. All I ever see is the family posting the go fund me ?! Why aren’t they out there everyday, Morn’in till night , in Edmonton, Beaumont, nisku , throsby, Calmar ,leduc … Looking. Then there loss wages would be for a reason.

Caity Ratchford, as you are unaware of what the family does with their time and or efforts and are just speculating based upon one inappropriate use of the word hire, I can only assume that you have some other reason behind what appears to be a personal attack on the family and this is not an appropriate forum for that type of comment. It is precisely because of inappropriate comments, like yours, that the distraught family of a missing person has the need to request people (volunteers) to monitor this site. Sadly, the administrator of this site fails to moderate the extremely inappropriate comments contained herein and thereby culpably encourages the attacks upon kindhearted people with genuine intentions and deters the real purpose of this forum. Why is it this particular site has 177 comments when the rest have only a few? It appears that is so that people like you can harangue an innocent family. Pathetic really.

I am Kathleen’s cousin. I can assure everyone reading these nasty comments from Sheila that she is a keyboard warrior only. A facebook investigator. That being said, I am sure her tiny little group of 67 members are all just sitting around drinking coffee in their underwear on Saturday night making their CSI/Criminal mind comments have absolutely NO SUBSTANCE OR TRUTH to them besides their own speculation. Do you know who does know the TRUTH? The 6153 members (and rising ) of the official page and the 100’s of volunteers like Trae Lynne Thurston and myself that ARE ACTUALLY HERE, at the Command Centre in Devon. Are you here Sheila? Have you poured countless hours in like the rest of us? FOR REAL?
Trae has been copying and pasting responses because it is her JOB to field the nasty comments like this and to set the story straight.
If anyone wants to know the real story, I suggest following our official group. Ran by RL Dakin – who has spent countless hours helping us, in a hopeful, encouraging and respectful manner.

I don’t know RL in person. I’ve spoken to the family and the searchers in person. I’m not here to defend or control anyone, i’m just here to help a family in need. Sorry if that offends you. Along with that, my education says nothing about my motives. I’m here to help. It doesn’t bother me if you don’t want to pray for Kathleen and her family, but try to not hurt a family that’s already in excruciating pain.

Lana Aamundsen no she did not call anyone after the accident. She left her phone at home and her last form of contact was before she left the house when everyone was in bed. No one knows where she was going or why. We know when the cops found her car and that she was not with the car. The possibilities of what could have happened are endless and all of them are being investigated by the police , volunteer searchers and the family.

This is such a sensitive issue as it is. And to be removed from a community page is ignorant, controlling and greasy. Shows no class or respect for others. Few of us were going to attend the candle light service tonite, but now we want nothing to do with it. I haven’t had one person tell me that they have met RL Dakin who doesn’t get involved physically in these cases. If you Google her, she is involved with other misfortunes of others. So odd!

It appeared she spun out and ended up stuck in the median. There was no body damage to her vehicle. No signs of a struggle. Car was running, keys in the ignition. There were footprints from driver side to highway heading NB then they disappear. It was snowing and very windy that night. Police were supposed to have flown down the river yesterday. Please share this so we can bring Kathleen home.

STOP USING THIS SPACE FOR SPECULATION – USE IT FOR TIPS PLEASE!

    Trae Lynne Thurston said:

We as the public, do not have any specialized investigative training for this case that gives us any right to speculate, especially not on any public forum where the family reads these comments and is hurt by them. Please keep these comments to yourself. Let’s exchange these for words of hope, encouragement, and positivity, because that is what we have to hold onto.

Raewyn Edwards I feel for you and your family and I am terribly sorry that you are going through this same situation HOWEVER, it would be greatly appreciated if you would keep your animosity out of these comments. Everyone wants Kathleen and your loved one to make it home safe and sound. As you are unfortunate enough to have a missing loved one and can relate to what Kathleen’s family and friends are going through, I would expect that you would not appreciate getting your hopes up every time you get an email update from Alberta Missing only to find out it is some petty grumbling, a ridiculous rumor or speculation that has already been crossed off the list of possibilities. I know I am finding it very heart wrenching. Please, share the name of your loved one and I will share their poster to as much social media as possible. No one should be left alone or wondering. It may help you feel better if you came to the Candlelight Vigil for Kathleen on Sunday. Details are in the Facebook Group MISSING: KATHLEEN FERRAZ. Thank you for your understanding and compassion.

I actually don’t understand why you two are being so ignorant and rude. Alex and her mom are missing their older sister and daughter. A part of their family and heart. Wouldn’t you be doing everything you could in your power to find her ? Even if that means driving hours away and checking places yourself ?? Hospitals won’t release info over the phone they need to go in person. And it’s none of your business what the money is for in the first place. If you don’t want to donate, then don’t. There are hundreds of people daily going to the church and going out searching the area. The money is being used for hand and feet warmers, flash lights, batteries , food and drink for the volunteers. If you must know . I’m appawled by how you are acting !! They are broken hearted. Keep your opinions and comments to yourself.

Sheila Hartley, you are a disgusting person. These are real people. Missing their family member. Regardless of why she is missing or where she is. It costs money, it is stressful. The family has to take time off work and find her. It costs money to feed and water the volunteers who are hiking through dangerous terrain to find her all day. This isn’t a money grab, so move on and be an ignorant cow somewhere else. I can’t believe people like you exist.

I am Kathleen’s cousin. I can assure everyone reading these nasty comments from Sheila that she is a keyboard warrior only. A facebook investigator. That being said, I am sure her tiny little group of 69 members are all just sitting around drinking coffee in their underwear on Saturday night making their CSI/Criminal mind comments have absolutely NO SUBSTANCE OR TRUTH to them besides their own speculation. Do you know who does know the TRUTH? The 6153 members (and rising ) of the official page and the 100’s of volunteers like Trae and myself that ARE ACTUALLY HERE, at the Command Centre in Devon.

Sunday’s candlelit vigil of hope for Kathleen restored a tremendous amount of faith in the overall goodness and generosity of people. The amount of love for and dedication to bringing Kathleen home is truly heart warming and keeps the family, friends and all of the volunteers uplifted, hopeful and encouraged to keep going.

Unfortunately, this page has served as a reminder of the truly narcissistic and mean-spirited people out there as well. Those nasty people that, despite being asked politely to cease and desist, continue to post cruel, profane and extremely inappropriate comments on a page that is meant to be a source of information and hope. Some of you continue to publish false statements, false statements that are meant to damage a person’s character and/or reputation on what, as you keep reminding us, is a public forum. That constitutes libel, an indictable crime pursuant to section 298-300 of the Criminal Code of Canada (R.S.C, 1985, c. C-46.). If an individual is found guilty of publishing a defamatory libel pursuant to the Code is liable to punishment of a term not exceeding five years. While those of you out there are tossing around these accusations and defamatory remarks behave like there are no consequences to your actions, please remember that inherently good people are watching your every move, keystroke and comment with an eye to vindicating your targets. Kindly govern yourselves accordingly.
